High School football is back and we are all excited for Friday, August 27th when the Bishop  Verot Vikings host the Lely Trojans at Vikings Stadium. The Trojans will be trying to avenge last years’ shut-out that they received from the Vikings.

The Vikings have a new coach, Coach Rode, and he wants nothing more than to start off the year 1-0. He will depend on his leaders Chris Graves and David Portu.   Rode will place a lot of the game on the shoulders of one of the better players in the state,  University of Miami commit, Chris Graves, AKA CG1. Graves is coming off of a great summer playing for Cam Newton out in the 7v7 league in Texas. Graves is feeling pretty good about the  game and that was apparent when he said “They lost there their key players, so they shouldn’t  be that good this year and we smacked them last year.”

David Portu is just as confident and is a leader who knows how to get to the quarterback.  He said, “They are athletic but not well coached so we should beat them.” Trojan’s coach, Everage, will have his hands full with Rode’s Viking team. I hope he has his guys ready to protect their new quarterback.

Either way, this game is going to be great. One team has to go home with a loss. Nobody wants the start off the year with a loss, but one of these teams will walk away 0-1.

Kick-off is 7 PM with no fan restrictions, if you are unable to attend be sure to tune into our new streaming service by clicking streams at the top of the page.
