Week 9 Preview: Bishop Verot at Lely

It's Week Nine of the Bishop Verot football season, and it's Lely Week for the Vikings! Last week, the Vikings traveled to Bishop Moore in Orlando and escaped with a 34-33 win over the Hornets. This week, Verot (5-3) takes on the Trojans of Lely High School (2-3) in Naples. The Vikings will look to move to 6-3 on the season with a win.

Last week, Chris Graves led Verot with 173 all-purpose yards and a touchdown reception. Malik Curtis added 148 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner with less than a minute left on the clock. These two have made for a crucial offensive threat for the Vikings and will be critical for Verot in upcoming games.

The Lely Trojans fell 16-6 last week to Naples, traditionally one of the best programs in Southwest Florida. The Trojans have been led this season by quarterback Jeremiah Dervil, who has thrown for more than 700 yards in Lely's five games. His favorite target has been senior Sergio Morancy, who has 16 catches and four touchdowns.

The two teams faced off in a Kickoff Classic contest last season, with Verot winning 14-2 at Viking Stadium.

It's an away game this season, so you can stop by Ron Daos to watch the game and enjoy some of their awesome pizza and wings! The game will also be available through the Verot Live YouTube or Facebook.

Prediction: Playing a local team for the first time this season, the Vikings roll past the Trojans in Naples. Bishop Verot 47, Lely 6
